As a Senior Software Engineer on the build team, you'll design, build, and deliver modern, experiences, services and tools that empower Microsoft developers and teams to build the future. Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize build systems and compilers for large-scale, cloud-first applications.
  • Innovate with AI-driven automation to improve build performance, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Solve challenging engineering problems with scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with compilers, build systems, developer tooling, and dependency management frameworks.
  • Skilled in designing and evolving resilient, scalable, and accessible software architectures and systems.
  • Collaborative problem solver who approaches complex challenges with curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and performance optimization.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
