Hardware & Software Engineering Supervisor (Space & Launch)

Lead a frontline engineering team at Vandenberg. As a 1st-level supervisor within the 520th Software Engineering Squadron (520 SWES), you will direct the development of state-of-the-art hardware and software solutions that ensure national space dominance, secure global broadcast services, and guarantee safe range launches for the warfighter.

-Space & Launch Mission: Make a direct impact on national security by supporting critical space dominance and range launch safety operations at Vandenberg.

-Frontline Leadership: Exercise direct supervisory authority to build, mentor, and guide a high-performing team of technical professionals.

-Cutting-Edge Solutions: Drive the hardware and software engineering that keeps critical weapon systems combat-ready, technologically superior, and data-driven.

-People & Performance Leadership: Exercise 1st-level supervisory and position management responsibilities, directly orchestrating the daily work activities of subordinate employees.

- Mission-Critical Engineering: Direct the development and sustainment of state-of-the-art hardware and software solutions that increase weapon system capabilities and warfighter readiness.

- Space & Range Operations: Provide elite software engineering maintenance and support for the nation's global broadcast service, space dominance initiatives, and range launch safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain a Top security clearance

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

- The Incumbent is subject to recall during non-duty hours, weekends, and holidays to complete proposals and/or resolve software problems.

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

- This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Professional knowledge of electronics engineering and/or computer science concepts, theories, principles, and practices and working knowledge of other disciplines, such as aerospace, industrial, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering; of a broad range of engineering standards, precedents, methods, and techniques to ensure work in compliance with regulations and standards; and the applicability of such knowledge to the full range of duties concerned with design, production, and maintenance of Operational Flight Programs, Automated Test Systems, Test Program Set Software, and other systems used to support the warfighter and weapons systems program offices.

2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.

4. Ability to utilize Art of the Possible (AoP) concepts and initiatives to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

5. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, standard configuration and finding regulations, practices and processes related to system acquisition and sustainment management functions.
