Position Overview

Strategic Advisors Technology (SAT) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer – Oracle SQL/PLSQL Developer with strong, hands-on experience in Oracle database development, PL/SQL engineering, data modeling, and database performance tuning.

The ideal candidate will be a strong problem solver who can demonstrate practical, hands-on PL/SQL expertise and provide valuable technical solutions to real-world, day-to-day problems during the interview.

This role requires someone who can actively contribute to the codebase, collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead technical design and implementation efforts, and mentor other engineers.

Must-Have Skills

Oracle PL/SQL Engineering

• Strong hands-on experience developing complex Oracle PL/SQL solutions.

• Development of complex stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and database business logic.

• Experience with custom data types and transactional data modeling.

• Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and development best practices.

• Ability to design, develop, debug, and maintain enterprise-level database applications.

Advanced SQL & Data Manipulation

• Advanced Oracle SQL development experience.

• Strong knowledge of analytical and windowing functions.

• Complex joins, aggregations, set operators, and subqueries.

• Experience with large-scale data manipulation and transformation.

• Strong data analysis and data modeling capabilities.

• Ability to optimize complex SQL queries.

Database Performance Tuning

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle database performance tuning.

• Query optimization and SQL tuning.

• Ability to read and analyze Oracle execution plans.

• Database diagnostics and troubleshooting.

• Experience with PGA memory tuning.

• Knowledge of database indexing and partitioning strategies.

• Ability to identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.

Additional Technical Experience

• Experience writing and maintaining batch jobs.

• Experience with ETL/Informatica and Autosys.

• Experience designing and implementing data APIs.

• Understanding of scalable application and distributed system design principles.

• Knowledge of mid-tier technologies such as Java, messaging technologies, and web containers.

• Understanding of how application/mid-tier technologies interact with databases.

• Exposure to cloud technologies such as Snowflake and AWS S3 is a plus.

• Understanding of CI/CD processes and tools.

• Experience working with automated testing and database code testing.

• Experience with ATDD (Acceptance Test-Driven Development) is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of software solutions that satisfy functional and non-functional requirements.

• Develop and maintain complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code.

• Perform data analysis, data modeling, database development, and performance tuning.

• Design and implement scalable data APIs and database solutions.

• Develop and maintain batch processing jobs using technologies such as Informatica/ETL and Autosys.

• Analyze and resolve complex production and application database issues.

• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews.

• Develop clean, readable, maintainable, testable, and high-performance code.

• Translate business requirements, storyboards, and use cases into effective technical solutions.

• Develop automated tests and contribute to regression testing and overall product quality.

• Contribute to engineering practices involving ATDD, CI/CD, and test automation.

• Collaborate with global teams of developers, architects, product owners, and other stakeholders.

• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other team members.

• Identify opportunities to improve engineering practices, application performance, and overall system quality.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on Oracle PL/SQL developer who can work independently on complex database problems and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Candidates should be prepared to discuss real-world technical scenarios during the interview and explain how they would diagnose, troubleshoot, optimize, and implement solutions to day-to-day database and application problems.

Required
