Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a SEDAS Senior Manager (Mechanical and Structural Engineering) (Level L) to support our all Programs team based in Everett, WA.

Job Responsibilities
  • Leads the Structures Engineering Design and Analysis Solutions organization
  • Provides senior leadership to first level managers in the areas of Structures software product management, software development, simulation/optimization technical excellence and vehicle level loads
  • Provides coaching, career development and growth support to first level managers;
  • Leads a multi-discipline team of Structures analysts and Information Technology engineers to maintain existing Structures scientific software applications;
  • Partners with Technical Fellowship, IDT&S, Digital Engineering, MSE Functional Chief Engr Office and Airplane Programs to strategically lead into modernization of the Structures software and tools ecosystem;
  • Partners strongly with SMA/SDT/STE to achieve systemic functional excellence
  • Provides technical expertise, problem solving and general support to the Structures community;
  • Management co-sponsor of the Structures Simulation & Optimization Tech Council and the Structures Software Tech Council;
  • Establishes and leads scientific software quality and governance across Structures community
  • Ensures compliance of the Structures software suite to ITAR/EAR/cyber requirements;
  • Maintains personal and team technical currency;
  • Communication down, out and up on complex technical topics, policy and strategic approaches.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with software life cycle management and its best practices
  • Experience with software product management and computing/data platforms
  • Demonstrated affinity for maintaining personal technical currency on applications like artificial intelligence, machine learning, coding languages, model-based engineering, model-based systems engineering, software development best practices, scientific computing applications, external software vendors
  • Experience and understanding of the Structures analysis value stream ('loads to notes')
  • Experience with analysis/simulation/optimization methods
  • Strong integrator and communicator
  • Knowledge of the Boeing Safety Management System
  • Lives the Boeing Values and Behaviors
