Associate Azure Cloud DevOps Engineer (Terraform)

As a Azure Cloud Engineer you will be responsible for building and deploying cloud environments by codifying existing application architectures using Terraform to translate legacy or current-state configurations into modern, automated, and repeatable infrastructure within GitHub Enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Codification: Lead the development of modular, reusable Terraform code to deploy core Azure services (VMs, SQL PaaS, App Services etc).
• State Translation (Migration to Greenfield): Analyze "brownfield" (existing) application architectures and translate them into optimized, best-practice "greenfield" deployments in new Azure subscriptions.
• GitHub Enterprise Integration: Build and manage robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for infrastructure deployment, ensuring automated linting, security scanning using Wiz and plan/apply workflows.
• Module Standardization: Develop a library of hardened, compliant Terraform modules that adhere to Azure Landing Zone standards and organizational governance.
• State Management & Security: Manage remote Terraform state securely (using Azure Blob Storage with locking) and integrate GitHub Secrets or Azure Key Vault for sensitive credential handling.

Technical Requirements

• Terraform Expertise: Advanced proficiency in HCL (HashiCorp Configuration Language), including experience with complex state manipulation, workspaces, and provider versioning.
• Azure Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and how resources translate into Terraform providers.
• GitHub Enterprise: Expert knowledge of GitHub Actions, environment protection rules, for Azure authentication, and repository management.
• Migration Logic: Proven ability to "reverse engineer" existing manual cloud setups into clean, declarative code.
• Certifications: HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate and Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer are nice to have.

Success Indicators

• Zero Manual Changes: Eliminating "click-ops" by ensuring 100% of the greenfield environment is managed via code.
• Deployment Velocity: Reducing the time to spin up new applications.
• Drift Detection: Implementing automated checks to ensure the live environment never deviates from the code defined in GitHub.

Required Skills:

• Experience: 2+ years in Azure cloud focused on migrations or transformations.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Azure ecosystem, including IaaS/PaaS, networking (vNets), security, and Azure Migrate tools.
