Environmental Test (ET) is an engineering organization that supports all programs across Raytheon. The ET organization provides testing capability for every phase of the product life cycle from prototype to production. Environmental testing includes mechanical shock, electrodynamic vibration, salt fog, climatic environments such as temperature, altitude, and humidity, high temperature quartz lamp testing, structural testing, test fixture design, and custom instrumentation installations and data acquisition support.

Environmental Test is seeking a Support Engineer in the field of environmental testing. The Support Engineer is responsible for executing a variety of environmental tests while collaborating in an integrated product (IP) team environment with Test Engineers, other Support Engineers, and internal engineering customers. The Sr. Support Engineer will work within the IP team to implement tests to meet customer requirements and is responsible for test setup, equipment control and monitoring, data collection and data verification. The Support Engineer is responsible for performing troubleshooting and adjustment of both the test equipment and test setup when technical issues arise.

This position is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.

To be eligible for a SkillBridge Fellowship, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Must be eligible to participate in Fellowship per DoD Instruction 1322.29.
  • Must be projected to receive an honorable discharge from the military.
  • Must have all TAP and transition requirements completed prior to the start date.
  • Must receive approval from Unit Commander or O4+ in the chain of command.
  • Must be located within a commutable distance or willing/approved to relocate to the job location.

What You Will Do
  • Perform set-up and operation of mechanical shock test and electrodynamic vibration test systems.
  • Perform set-up and operation of climatic environmental chambers in support of testing for temperature, altitude, and humidity and highly accelerated life tests.
  • Perform set-up and programming of all control and data acquisition systems as well as the placement, and operation of all instrumentation, signal conditioning, and data acquisition systems.
  • Perform the execution of various vibration test methods including random, sine, shock, sine-on-random, random-on-random and drop shock, as defined in Mil-Std-810.
  • Collect thermal, vibration, and shock test data and verify for accuracy.
  • Safeguarding of classified/proprietary material, hardware, and documentation.
  • Ability to work in closed/proprietary/classified areas.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a technology field OR in absence of a degree, four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Previous work experience setting up and troubleshooting either mechanical hardware, electrical instruments, or computer systems.
  • Hands on experience using basic hand and power tools such as soldering iron, torque wrenches, or electronic test equipment.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting signal conditioners and data acquisition system. hardware and software.
  • Experience working with commercial environmental test equipment to include vibration test systems and thermal chambers.
  • Experience working with vibration control systems and software.

Additional Information:

This position is an Onsite role. Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
