Job Description
The candidate must be able to work in the United States legally; we cannot provide sponsorship. The position requires the candidate to be a U.S. person as defined in ITAR, 22 CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status) and defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a) (20). The ideal candidate will have experience constructing wiring harnesses for racing, military, or aerospace applications. A strong understanding of basic D.C. electronics knowledge, including principles of current flow, resistance, voltage, voltage drop, OHM"s law, relay fundamentals, E.M.I., and grounding. As well as experience with and around High Voltage applications. In addition, familiarity with military-grade components (wires, connectors, back shells, MIL-crimpers, open barrel crimpers, proper twisting techniques, shielding, epoxy sealing & potting, molded shrink boot recovery, and soldering) to the following workmanship standards:
* IPC-A-610
* IPC/WHMA-A-620
* IPC J-STD- 001D Certified Soldering Instructor/Technicians
o Prior Experience working to IPC standards is preferred but not required.
* Production Unit Qualification Testing per MIL-STD-810H
* EMI/RFI Testing per MIL-STD 461E Electrical Technician must be highly competent and efficient in their ability to assemble custom wiring harnesses by hand. This technician will work with other team members and leaders to achieve team goals and meet or exceed standard metrics and commitments, meeting continuously evolving production requirements and satisfying customer-imposed deadlines and emergencies. Personal pride and ownership of producing the best product possible are expected, as are personal improvement goals, including quality of work and quickness of assembly tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assemble, install, perform functional and safety tests and reverse engineer on wiring using hand tools and proper assembly techniques by following work instructions (prints, cut sheets, sample harnesses).
* Install lights, brackets, and electrical hardware to special test boxes, automotive components, and vehicles according to specifications.
* Test wiring and components for correct operation using a schematic and diagnostic equipment.
* Perform wiring reworks and repairs on bench and vehicle, crimp and solder, de-pin terminal, create basic schematics and reverse engineer harnesses.
* Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
* Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.
Education and Experience (required):
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum of 4 years of electrical work experience.
Education and Experience (preferred):
* Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or related.
* Valid driver"s license.
* Experience installing components on circuit boards.
* Experience with automotive powertrain systems or electric battery systems.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (required):
* Mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of automotive systems and ability to crimp and solder wires. Proficient with hand and power tools and able to operate vehicle lifts.
* Proficient electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand electronic schematics and electronic part documentation.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Able to work overtime and weekends.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (preferred):
* Broad knowledge of vehicle systems (powertrain, chassis, electrical, thermal, exteriors, interiors, etc.) and related components, component materials & fasteners.
