Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Business Analyst with a strong combination of data analysis, business analysis, and data profiling experience. The ideal candidate will have advanced SQL skills, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements, analyze data, identify trends and issues, and translate business needs into actionable data-driven solutions.
Candidates with hands-on experience in report development and data reporting will be especially well suited for this role. Experience with Power BI is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze complex business and data requirements and translate them into clear, actionable technical and functional requirements.
Perform detailed data analysis, data profiling, validation, and quality assessment across multiple data sources.
Write and execute complex SQL queries to extract, analyze, validate, and reconcile data.
Identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, anomalies, and trends, and work with technical teams to determine appropriate solutions.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data teams, developers, and other cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver effective data solutions.
Develop, enhance, and maintain reports and analytical solutions based on business requirements.
Create data-driven insights and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Document business requirements, data requirements, data mappings, business rules, and functional specifications.
Perform data validation and testing to ensure reports and data solutions meet business expectations.
Support dashboard and reporting initiatives and help define appropriate KPIs and metrics.
Participate in requirements gathering, stakeholder discussions, data analysis, testing, and implementation activities.
Communicate complex data concepts and analytical findings effectively to business and technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or Data Business Analyst.
Strong hands-on experience with SQL and the ability to write complex queries for data analysis and validation.
Solid experience with data profiling, data analysis, data validation, and data quality.
Strong understanding of business analysis and requirements gathering.
Experience working with large and complex datasets.
Hands-on experience with report development, reporting requirements, and data-driven reporting solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to translate business requirements into data requirements and analytical solutions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with Power BI, including dashboard/report development.
Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools.
Experience working with data warehouses, relational databases, or enterprise data environments.
Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data management concepts.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strong Data Analyst first, with equally strong Business Analysis capabilities. They should be highly proficient in SQL, comfortable performing data profiling and validation, and experienced in developing or supporting business reports. Strong communication is critical, as this person will need to interact directly with business stakeholders and technical teams.
Power BI experience is a significant advantage, particularly for candidates with strong report/dashboard development experience.
