Infrastructure Manager - Apptrix

We are seeking an exceptional Infrastructure Manager with strong technical depth and proven leadership experience. This individual will play a key role in architecting infrastructure solutions, making critical technical decisions, and leading complex initiatives across systems, networking, and security.

Our Houston-based technology company specializes in hosting and supporting Infor environments for over 135 customers. We are looking for a hands-on leader with broad infrastructure expertise spanning server, virtualization, networking, and security technologies.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the design, performance, security, and reliability of our hosted environments. The Infrastructure Manager will lead a team of engineers while actively contributing to architecture, automation, and operational excellence across compute, network, and security layers.

This position requires a strong balance of technical leadership, project management, and communication skills to ensure high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of infrastructure environments across their full lifecycle
• Architect and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable systems across compute, storage, networking, and virtualization layers
• Manage and guide the infrastructure team supporting virtualization platforms, enterprise storage, and networking
• Design, implement, and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, microsegmentation strategies, and IPsec tunnels
• Monitor system health, performance, and security posture, proactively identifying and resolving issues
• Troubleshoot complex cross-layer issues spanning systems, networking, and applications
• Automate repetitive processes and improve operational efficiency through scripting and tooling
• Coordinate with vendors for support, monitoring, and infrastructure services
• Provide 24/7 support for critical production systems as needed
• Evaluate and implement new technologies and platform improvements
• Communicate effectively across technical teams, leadership, and customers to ensure alignment and clarity

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or systems administration
• 2+ years of project management and leadership or team lead experience in a high-pressure, production environment
• Strong experience with virtualization platforms and infrastructure design
• Solid knowledge of networking
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, network segmentation, and secure connectivity solutions such as IPsec tunnels and ZTNA
• Experience implementing or managing microsegmentation strategies is highly desirable
• Proficiency with Windows and Linux server administration
• Strong troubleshooting skills across systems, networking, and infrastructure layers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage priorities, lead teams, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in customer-facing or managed services environments
• Scripting/automation experience (Python, PowerShell, or similar)
• Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
