Position Summary

Our client, a global leader in the food manufacturing industry, is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support multiple capital engineering initiatives at its manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. This consultant will play a key role in the installation of a new production roaster while simultaneously leading engineering efforts for the design and asset replacement of an existing roasting system.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing capital projects within a food or beverage manufacturing environment and will serve as the technical liaison between plant operations, third-party engineering firms, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution from design through commissioning.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide process engineering support for the installation, startup, and commissioning of a new industrial roasting system.
  • Lead engineering activities related to the design and replacement of an existing production roaster.
  • Collaborate with third-party engineering firms on equipment and process design.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements.
  • Identify and implement required Critical Control Points (CCPs) and support HACCP/Food Safety requirements for new and modified production processes.
  • Support capital project planning, execution, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within established quality standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and process optimization initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of process engineering experience within food, beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large capital equipment installation or replacement projects.
  • Experience with process equipment such as roasters, ovens, dryers, thermal processing equipment, mixers, conveyors, or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Strong understanding of process design, equipment commissioning, and manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Experience coordinating with external engineering/design firms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in coffee, confectionery, pet food, or other food manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience with large-scale equipment modernization or brownfield capital projects.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations, GMPs, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.

 

Additional Information

  • This is a long-term contract opportunity with an anticipated duration of approximately three years.
  • Local candidates are preferred; however, exceptional candidates requiring per diem will be considered.
  • Interviews will consist of an initial virtual panel followed by an onsite interview.
