Summary

We are seeking a Wireless Research Engineer to join an advanced research and development team focused on the future of intelligent wireless communication systems. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) to 5G, 6G, and Open RAN (O-RAN) technologies, enabling AI-native network automation, intelligent Radio Access Networks (RAN), and next-generation wireless innovation.

This opportunity is open to recent Ph.D. graduates with strong research experience as well as engineers with industry experience in wireless communications, AI/ML, or telecommunications R&D. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative AI-driven wireless technologies, prototype next-generation solutions, contribute to standards-based research, and help shape the future of intelligent mobile networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and optimize AI/ML algorithms for next-generation wireless communication systems, including 5G, 6G, and Open RAN (O-RAN) architectures.
  • Design and develop intelligent xApps and rApps for O-RAN RIC (RAN Intelligent Controller) platforms to enable AI-driven network optimization and automation.
  • Develop AI-powered solutions for:
    • Beam Management
    • Channel Estimation
    • CSI Prediction
    • Radio Resource Management (RRM)
    • Mobility Optimization
    • AI-native Network Automation
  • Build, train, validate, and optimize machine learning and deep learning models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and related AI frameworks.
  • Analyze large-scale telecom datasets to improve network performance, scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Design simulations and proof-of-concept prototypes for advanced wireless algorithms and AI-native networking solutions.
  • Develop solutions aligned with 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance standards and specifications.
  • Evaluate wireless algorithms using simulation environments and experimental datasets.
  • Collaborate with researchers, software engineers, wireless architects, and cross-functional R&D teams on next-generation networking initiatives.
  • Contribute to research publications, invention disclosures, patent development, and technical innovations.
  • Document research findings and present technical results to engineering and research stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in AI, wireless communications, Open RAN, and next-generation networking.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Wireless Communications, or a related technical field.
  • Recent Ph.D. graduates are encouraged to apply. Relevant doctoral research in wireless communications, AI/ML, signal processing, networking, or related areas will be considered equivalent to industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of 5G, 6G, Open RAN (O-RAN), and modern wireless communication systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing AI/ML models for wireless communication, networking, or telecommunications applications.
  • Programming experience in:
    • Python
    • SQL
  • Experience using AI/ML frameworks such as:
    • PyTorch
    • TensorFlow
  • Knowledge of:
    • O-RAN RIC
    • xApps
    • rApps
    • AI-driven RAN optimization
    • Beam Management
    • Channel Estimation
    • CSI Prediction
    • Radio Resource Management
  • Understanding of 3GPP and O-RAN standards.
  • Experience working with large telecom datasets, system simulations, and wireless algorithm evaluation.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
