Summary

Systems Architect

Summary
Our client is seeking a Systems Architect to work with business and technical stakeholders, translating high-level business processes into technical requirements and standardized architecture documentation across their ecosystem of internal and external systems.  This role will serve as a senior business/solutions/systems analyst, technical architect, and documenter, leading architecture and delivery on major initiatives, including a full rebuild of the 1099 IRS reporting system and reconstruction of the insurance rating engine, with additional exposure to other active system projects across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and technical SMEs to define current and future states for systems and processes; capture use cases and requirements.
  • Scope systems, determine requirements, and recommend solutions to development teams on deadline-driven initiatives.
  • Craft high-level system requirements and clear technical execution paths from analysis; present to stakeholders at all levels including executives.
  • Create and maintain systems documentation: architecture diagrams, workflows, process guides, troubleshooting and training materials.
  • Support security efforts: risk assessments, attack vector identification, after-action reporting, and enforcement of security standards.
  • Perform QA across new systems/products (unit, regression, stress, data testing) and report findings.
  • Provide Tier-3 support: root-cause analysis on escalated, undocumented defects and recommend/implement fixes.
  • Proactively surface problem areas or security gaps from user feedback and internal tooling.
  • Operate independently on deadline-driven work, communicating early when timelines are at risk.

Requirements

  • Experience as a technical analyst.
  • Experience as a developer or its functional equivalent.
  • Experience leading cross-departmental teams on business process analysis and requirements gathering.
  • Experience using SQL (DQL).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language beyond SQL (Java, Rust, C#, etc.).
  • Strong grasp of technical architecture principles and SDLC.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex technical details for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented; comfortable learning new systems and processes quickly.

Preferred

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • QA/software testing experience across all phases including coordinating UAT.
  • Financial services industry background (insurance, rating engines, IRS/1099 reporting).
