AWS HPC Migration Consultant / Cloud Engineer (HPC)
Engagement Overview
The customer is looking for a senior consultant to help migrate on-premises High-Performance Computing (HPC) workloads to AWS.
The consultant will lead:
  • HPC workload discovery and inventory
  • Requirements deep-dives
  • Baseline AWS architecture design
  • AWS cost-governance assessment and automation
  • Open OnDemand user-portal integration
  • Non-production baseline deployment
  • Optimization and remediation
  • Technical workshops and knowledge transfer

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify on-premises HPC workloads that are candidates for migration to AWS and create a migration inventory.
  • Develop user personas and conduct technical/operational requirements deep-dives.
  • Assess existing AWS cost tracking, tagging, anomaly detection, alerts and reporting.
  • Design automated cost tracking, notification and reporting mechanisms.
  • Review existing AMI/machine image pipelines and recommend improvements.
  • Review and integrate Open OnDemand, including configuration, deployment and authentication.
  • Support baseline architecture design and workload deployment in the target non-production AWS environment.
  • Facilitate discovery and design of AI/analytics agent integrations.
  • Review workload deployments and provide optimization/remediation recommendations.
  • Support acceptance and cutover troubleshooting for up to five business days.

  • Hands-on experience running or migrating HPC workloads on AWS
  • AWS ParallelCluster
  • AWS Batch
  • EC2 HPC instance families such as Hpc6a / Hpc7g
  • EC2 placement groups
  • EFA — Elastic Fabric Adapter
  • On-premises HPC environments
  • Slurm, PBS, LSF or similar schedulers
  • MPI-based parallel workloads
  • HPC storage such as:
    • Amazon FSx for Lustre
    • EFS
    • S3 data staging
