Software Developer Clinical Data Insights & Automation (CDI&A)

Clients Early Clinical Development (ECD) department is seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer to join the Clinical Data Insights & Automation (CDI&A) team, reporting to the Director of Software Engineering.

The CDI&A team partners with stakeholders across Clinical Science, Clinical Operations, Medical Writing, Quality, and Regulatory to develop innovative solutions for complex clinical development challenges. The team designs and pilots cutting-edge software products that leverage modern technologies including generative AI to enhance efficiency, insight generation, and user experience.

This role will focus on designing, developing, and deploying software applications that integrate with advanced AI models and tools. You will collaborate closely with AI scientists, full stack engineers, and cross-functional partners to deliver impactful solutions that support early clinical development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting clinical development initiatives

• Integrate AI/LLM capabilities to enhance data processing and workflow automation

• Build intuitive, user-centric interfaces

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices

• Stay current with advancements in generative AI and machine learning

• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve solutions

• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to embed AI capabilities into applications

• Develop and maintain deployment pipelines for AI-enabled applications

• Monitor production performance and implement improvements as needed

Who You Are

• An experienced full stack developer who can contribute as both a technical leader and hands-on engineer

• Knowledgeable about the current AI landscape, including capabilities, limitations, and best practices

• Comfortable working in cross-functional, fast-paced environments

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field

• 5+ years of full stack development experience

• 4+ years of front-end development experience (Vue.js preferred; React or similar acceptable)

• Strong backend development experience using Python and/or JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Django, FastAPI, Flask, Next.js)

• 2+ years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML-enabled applications

• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs (e.g., Python FastAPI)

• Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts

• Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman)

• Strong automated testing experience (Python unittest, Jest, Playwright, etc.)

• Experience leading system design and building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake)

• Experience implementing chatbots, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and integrating LLMs into applications

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI agents and fine-tuning LLMs

• Experience evaluating bias and fairness in LLM systems

• Experience developing Microsoft Word add-ins using Office.js

• Experience with JWT, WebSockets, and related web technologies

• Familiarity with Hugging Face, LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks

• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

• Familiarity with CRDT technologies (e.g., Yjs)

• Experience applying NLP/LLMs to clinical text

• Basic knowledge of clinical drug development processes
