Summary

Role: Senior SQL Database Administrator

Location: Remote

Job Description

Monitor and maintain all SQL Server instances and databases to maximize system availability; quickly diagnose and resolve issues as they arise and provide support as required by application owners.

Configure and install Microsoft SQL Server, including log shipping, database mirroring, and AlwaysOn Availability Group setup.

Proactively manage and monitor SQL Server infrastructure; assist teams to tune performance and remediate issues within the database infrastructure.

Assist in managing and maintaining the Firm''s Document Management System (iManage DMS) and its underlying databases; diagnose and resolve issues as they arise and implement periodic upgrades and enhancements.

Design, implement, and maintain data integrations between Firm systems; maintain and enforce data consistency across those systems.

Create, update, and troubleshoot Power BI and SSRS reports based on business requirements, including data source configuration, dataset relationships, and data refresh troubleshooting; assist with migrating existing SSRS reports to Power BI.

Apply appropriate security to datasets and reports, and partner with the Information Security team on review and approval of dataset/report publication where required.

Provide training and support to report sponsors and their teams to help them independently build and maintain future reports using available datasets.

Manage projects independently, adhering to and helping to establish timelines and budget limits; provide regular status updates to management and stakeholders.

Manage ticketing queues, route and resolve urgent requests in a timely manner.

Establish, maintain, and follow group procedures and policies related to the SQL Server environment, including installations, configurations, backups, disaster recovery, and other such operations.

 

Qualifications Required:

Overall, 10+ years of experience required.

3 + years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in an enterprise environment.

Familiarity with Windows server operating systems and an understanding of server hardware as it relates to SQL Server — particularly CPU, RAM, and I/O subsystems — as well as basic networking concepts.

Experience writing advanced SQL queries and stored procedures and troubleshooting their performance.

Thorough understanding of relational database design principles such as key selection, relationships, and normalization.

Strong working knowledge of SQL Server business intelligence tools (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI); experience creating datasets/dataflows and Power BI dashboards and migrating SSRS reports to Power BI.

Solid understanding of data aggregation and defining relationships across datasets.

Experience managing a ticketing/service queue and prioritizing and resolving urgent requests in a timely manner.

Able to work well under minimal supervision, and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

Self-motivated, with good time management and project management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people of varying technical expertise and levels of management.

Experience in providing technical support for a large, geographically dispersed organization.

Highly analytical and an excellent problem solver; fast learner who adapts quickly. 

Desired:

Experience with SQL Server in the Azure platform.

Experience with scripting/programming languages such as PowerShell, .NET, and C#.

Experience managing and administering the iManage Work document management system.

Experience working with Intapp Integrate/Integration Builder/Boomi.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Microsoft SQL Server or other RDBMS certifications.

Microsoft Azure certifications.

Microsoft Power Platform certification.

iManage Work certifications.
