The Network Engineer II is responsible for the technical design/architecture, configuration and implementation of core elements that comprise the company’s enterprise data and voice networks. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical consultant within multiple project teams, and be responsible for the effective and timely delivery of networking and unified communications solutions to meet the defined needs of the organization. The position is considered to be the resident technical expert within the network space.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with planning, design and implementation of large enterprise network (and at times unified communications) solutions to support the enterprise
Work in conjunction with multiple project team members to refine project-specific requirements and meet project deliverables within the networking/UC space
Provide tier-3 level technical support to resolve networking and UC issues with a strong focus on customer service
Create and maintain comprehensive technical design documentation for proposed and implemented solutions
Work with Solutions Architects to assist in technical evaluation of potential new technologies and vendor selection
Support the Network and UC Operations Teams by facilitating effective service transition and process development
Perform other duties as assigned/necessary
Job Requirements:
At least 10 years of experience managing and supporting large-enterprise infrastructure/network environments - designing, planning, documenting and implementing LANs and WANs
CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or CWNA preferred
Current knowledge of network security technologies – including, but not limited: Cisco Sourcefire IDPS, FTD; Zscaler; Cisco ISE; Palo Alto NGFWs; Palo Alto GPVPN; Meraki switches and wireless; Cisco ACI; SilverPeak (HPE) SD-WAN
Current knowledge of S2S VPN configuration, and maintenance support
Hands-on experience with network hardware, specifically Cisco routers and switches (6500/4500/Nexus 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K - 2800/2900/4300)
Advanced knowledge of IP routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF
Advanced knowledge of enterprise-level WAN and Internet circuits configuration, and maintenance support, along with inter-data center connectivity.
Experience using packet capture software such as Wireshark and other sniffer tools; ability to perform comprehensive network performance analysis
Advanced understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols
Experience with Cisco wireless technology – Meraki
Strong experience with core data center and campus environment networking technologies
Strong experience with Solarwinds
Preferred experience/experience with F5 LTM
Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently
Strong vendor management skills
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
Expertise in creating and speaking network architecture diagrams to all levels of leadership
Ability to regularly multitask and at times perform work tasks off-hours
