Network Firmware (Niagara Framework) Engineer

Job Summary (Network Engineer Frisco, TX):

- Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for controllers, gateways, and connected devices in building/industrial automation.
- Develop and integrate firmware with Niagara Framework (Niagara 4) and related environments.
- Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot Niagara stations, drivers, protocols, and controllers.
- Integrate field devices using protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, MQTT, and OPC.
- Develop and maintain firmware interfaces for network-connected embedded/IoT devices.
- Configure and troubleshoot network security components (firewalls, VPNs, NAT, ports, and secure communications).
- Analyze network traffic, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and resolve protocol-level problems using diagnostic tools (Wireshark, TCP/IP utilities).
- Implement secure communication (TLS/SSL, certificates, authentication, encryption).
- Perform firmware upgrades, bootloader updates, patches, and manage device lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, controls, networking, cybersecurity, DevOps).
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests for firmware and connected systems.
- Investigate production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation (firmware releases, configurations, network architecture, troubleshooting).

Required Skills:

- Strong experience in firmware/embedded software engineering (C/C++ and/or Python).
- Hands-on with Niagara Framework/Niagara 4 and related controllers/integrations.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, VLANs).
- Practical experience with firewalls and network security configuration.
- Skilled in troubleshooting network and protocol-level issues.
- Knowledge of embedded Linux, Linux networking, or RTOS.
- Experience with firmware testing, debugging, release management, and Git.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
