Job Title: Hardware Engineer I (Tier 2 Deskside Support)
Location: North Bethesda, MD (on-site)
Type: Contract
Compensation: $30.69/HR - $33.97/HR on W2
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain an NRC Public Trust Security Clearance prior to start (may take anywhere between 1-4 months from submission to the customers security organization). Due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship OR U.S. Permanent Residence is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site 7x24 customer operational desk-side engineering and break fix support for desktop and laptop devices in the IT environment for end users at our customer sites in North Bethesda, MD and Bluemont, VA.
- Deploy Windows 10 and 11 configured hardware devices, ensuring non-disruptive support and proper configuration.
- Utilize MS Office Suite, ServiceNow, and related tools for device deployment, ticket processing, and updating the CMDB to capture changes.
- Coordinate with Tier 3 support teams for system changes and upgrades.
- Assist with support during practice, mock, and real customer DR/COOP exercises.
- Maintain and support high availability environments through virtualization and redundancy best practices.
- Perform system maintenance tasks including software upgrades, backups, recovery, and application of critical updates.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding hardware and software issues, documenting resolutions in ServiceNow, and adhering to performance standards.
- Perform configuration and deployment of mobile devices, laptops, thin clients, and desktops, including heavy lifting and equipment movement.
- Procure, support, and dispose of hardware and software, managing asset control tasks on and off site.
- Provide hands-on support for network or systems configurations as needed at customer HQ sites.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in desktop support or related IT roles.
- Experience preparing and deploying Dell laptops and desktops with Windows 10 and 11 images.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite, ServiceNow, and hardware deployment tools.
- Ability to support and troubleshoot hardware/software issues, including patch deployment and system administration.
- Support experience in enterprise IT environments, patch management, and test automation frameworks is a plus.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+, Network+, and Microsoft certifications are preferred.
- Ability to obtain an NRC Public Trust Security Clearance prior to start.
- Excellent communication skills for end user support and ticket documentation.
- Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and equipment setup.
