Senior AWS Cloud Developer

We are hiring four Senior AWS Cloud Developers to support multiple application-development teams. These are hands-on software engineering roles focused on designing and building cloud-native applications in AWS.

This is not a DevOps, infrastructure, platform engineering, or production-support position. Candidates should be actively writing application code and developing APIs, Lambda functions, microservices, and event-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-native applications and services in AWS

• Build AWS Lambda functions using Java and/or Python

• Develop RESTful APIs and integrations using Amazon API Gateway

• Design and implement workflows using AWS Step Functions

• Build event-driven applications using Kafka, EventBridge, SQS, and SNS

• Develop microservices and reusable application components

• Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform

• Implement application monitoring, logging, and alerting with CloudWatch

• Participate in system design and technical architecture discussions

• Troubleshoot application issues across development and production environments

• Collaborate with developers, architects, product teams, and business stakeholders

• Produce clean, maintainable, tested application code

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of overall software engineering or application-development experience

• Significant hands-on AWS application-development experience

• Strong development experience with Java and/or Python

• Hands-on experience developing AWS Lambda functions

• REST API and API Gateway development experience

• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience

• AWS Step Functions experience

• CloudWatch monitoring and troubleshooting experience

• Experience designing microservices and distributed systems

• Experience with Kafka or other event-driven messaging technologies

• Strong system-design and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and follow-through

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is a software developer first. Recent experience should include personally writing application code, developing APIs, creating Lambda functions, building workflows, and implementing business logic in AWS.

Candidates whose recent experience is primarily focused on the following are unlikely to be a fit for these teams:

• Cloud infrastructure administration

• DevOps or CI/CD pipeline support

• Kubernetes or container-platform administration

• Site reliability engineering

• Landing Zones or cloud governance

• Production support

• IAM or networking administration

• Platform engineering

During the interview process, candidates should be prepared to explain a recent AWS application they personally developed, including the business problem, application flow, code they wrote, AWS services used, and technical decisions they made.
