Summary

Job Title: AI Governance Subject Matter Expert

Location: Remote with Possible Travel to Atlanta, GA

Duration: 7 months (20 Hours Per Week)

We are seeking a client-facing AI Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead advisory engagements focused on responsible AI strategy, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management.
This role partners directly with executive stakeholders to design, assess, and operationalize AI governance frameworks that enable innovation while mitigating regulatory, reputational, and operational risk. The ideal candidate combines deep technical fluency in AI/ML with strong consulting presence and executive advisory experience.
Description

  • Lead AI governance and responsible AI advisory engagements for enterprise clients
  • Assess client AI maturity and identify governance, compliance, and risk gaps
  • Design and implement enterprise AI governance frameworks aligned to global standards such as: EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework and ISO/IEC 42001
  • Conduct AI risk assessments, model lifecycle reviews, and algorithmic impact analyses
  • Develop policies, standards, and control frameworks governing AI development, validation, deployment, and monitoring
  • Advise executive leadership on AI regulatory exposure and risk mitigation strategies
  • Support AI program roadmaps, governance operating model design, and oversight structures
  • Evaluate third-party AI vendors and assess model risk exposure
  • Develop client-facing thought leadership, whitepapers, and executive briefings
  • Contribute to internal capability development and AI governance practice expansion

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in technology risk, AI governance, data governance, regulatory compliance, or advisory services
  • Proven experience leading client engagements in a consulting or advisory capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of AI/ML lifecycle management, model governance, validation, and monitoring
  • Deep familiarity with emerging AI regulations, standards, and risk frameworks
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional executive stakeholders (Risk, Legal, Compliance, IT, Data, Security)
  • Ability to communicate complex AI risks clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills

Preferred

  • Experience in one or more of the following industries: Financial Services, High Tech, Consumer Products, Healthcare, or Manufacturing
  • Model Risk Management (MRM) experience, including model validation and controls
  • Experience with enterprise AI ecosystems and cloud platforms such as: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Relevant certifications (CISA, CRISC, CIPM, or AI governance-related credentials)
  • Experience developing repeatable governance methodologies or service offerings
