You'll make sure stakeholder security requirements are addressed in every aspect of the enterprise architecture – from reference models to segment and cloud solution architectures.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Google Cloud Platform Cloud Security Engineer to join our innovative cybersecurity team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). Your expertise will help safeguard our cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our security posture by integrating advanced cybersecurity tools, conducting vulnerability assessments, and supporting incident response efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of cloud security engineering, driving continuous improvement in our security systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive cloud security strategies aligned with Google Cloud Platform architecture, ensuring adherence to security standards such as ISO 27001, ISO 27002, and NIST frameworks.
- Developing, testing, and deploying Google Cloud Platform Security Controls across the firm's cloud tenants through 3rd part SaaS solutions
- Evaluating Firm cloud security requirements and assess how these can be implemented into Detective cloud controls
- Working closely with vendors and partner squads to develop, deploy, and test Cloud security services
- Developing and generating compliance reports that showcase the cloud infrastructure's drift management status
- Working with resource owners to remediate configuration drifts
- Defining priorities, coordinating with peer teams, and leading continuous improvement efforts of security tools, systems and processes
- Research, investigate and implement newer technologies to continually evolve security capabilities
- Integrating, configuring, documenting, and deploying compliant infrastructure and supporting services in the Cloud platform
- Troubleshooting problems, analysing root cause, and (where possible) fixing bugs introduced by owned or managed security solutions
- Collaborating with Risk Management, Security Architecture, and Cyber Incident Response teams to ensure necessary controls to Cloud services are deployed and tested
- Configure and manage security controls including firewalls, VPNs, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), and endpoint detection tools to monitor and protect cloud environments.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk management framework evaluations, and security risk assessments to identify potential threats within cloud infrastructure and IT systems.
- Manage identity & access management (IAM) policies, ensuring secure authentication protocols like SSO (Single Sign-On), LDAP integration, and RBAC (Role-Based Access Control).
- Perform system hardening on operating systems such as Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Windows to minimize attack surfaces; implement system security plans for cloud resources.
- Investigate security events using tools like Splunk or New Relic; analyze logs for threat detection & response; participate in incident recovery activities.
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to optimize network architecture including LAN/WAN configurations, routing protocols such as OSPF or BGP, load balancing solutions, and network support for high availability environments.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in cybersecurity with a focus on cloud security engineering within Google Cloud Platform
- Deep Google Cloud Platform Expertise: 4+ years of hands-on cloud security experience, with demonstrated technical depth in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) architecture.
- Hands-on Scripting/Coding: 3+ years of experience developing automation, scripts
- Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform Infrastructure and Services
- Knowledge of the Shared Responsibility Model; keen understanding of the security risks inherent in hosting cloud-based applications and data
- Experience developing across the security assurance lifecycle (mainly detect & respond controls
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling such as TerraformStrong in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python and Bash.Experience creating technical architecture documentation.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN design, TCP/IP protocols, IPsec VPNs, DNS, DHCP, Ethernet, and network protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation of security tasks; experience with DevOps tools like Terraform or Ansible is a plus.
- Knowledge of encryption techniques, system hardening practices (including SELinux), vulnerability research & assessment methodologies.
- Ability to analyze complex security issues using SIEM platforms like Splunk or SolarWinds; experience with threat intelligence and threat detection & response strategies.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, GSEC or Google Cloud Platform-specific security certifications are highly desirable.
