iO Associates is currently partnered with an exciting custom software and technology consultancy seeking a skilled Principal Golang Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

Their in-house product teams partner with Fortune 500 companies to navigate the space between an identified problem and a future-focused solution. You'll play a key role supporting a long-term project, contributing to the design and delivery of scalable, high-impact software solutions.

In this role, you'll take ownership of backend systems, influence technical direction, and help guide engineering best practices across the team.

Responsibilities

  Design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance, scalable backend services using Golang.

  Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

  Lead by example through writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code aligned with best practices.

  Optimize existing systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.

  
  


• 
  

  Participate in and lead code reviews to ensure high standards of code quality.

  Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.

  Mentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership and direction.

Essential Skills & Experience

  Proven expertise in Golang application development.

  Significant experience with AWS services and cloud architectures.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including database management and optimization.

  
  


• 
  

  5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience.

  Strong communication skills with prior consulting or client-facing experience.

  
  


• 
  

  Demonstrated leadership ability and experience influencing technical decisions.

  Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.

  
  

Desirable Skills & Experience
