Summary

Provide direct supervision and training to employees (Quality Support 1-3 and Quality Team Leader 1-2) to effectively perform the assignments. May include supervising ~25 - 50 employees or a non-supervisory team lead of a support function.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Review inspection method, sampling plan in the Quality Instruction/Quality Plan and feedback Quality Engineer as necessary.
  • Monitor and review performance, attendance and disciplinary of employees (Quality Support 1-3 and Quality Team Leader 1-2) under his/her assigned area.
  • Review defect found by Quality Inspector, prepare report, notify and work with team for correction and drive for solution.
  • Stop line and escalate the quality incident to Manager, as necessary.
  • Monitor and review the working shift/ hours and overtime schedule of employees (Quality Support 1-3 and Quality Team Leader 1-2) under his/her assigned area.
  • Provides direct supervision and training to employees (Quality Team Leader 1-2) performing their assignments.


Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Strong Knowledge of the product quality requirements (IPC-A-610, workmanship, cosmetic spec.) and the tools and equipment used in the inspection process.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Strong Knowledge of ISO Standards and general company's rules / procedures.
  • Strong Knowledge of sampling plan procedure (AQL).
  • Strong Knowledge of basic quality tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business unit and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, on-time delivery and the profitability of the unit.
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate employees (Quality Support 1-3 and Quality Team Leader 1-2).
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with various functions to meet quality metrics.


Physical Demands

  • The job works in generally good conditions with occasional exposure (10% - 33%) to noise, odours, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Duties include sustained visual concentration on small areas, such as monitors/screens and sustained visual concentration on numbers/legal documents.
  • Occasionally overnight travel is required.


Typical Experience

  • 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.


Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experiency.
  • Educational requirements may vary by geography.
