Role Overview
eNGINE is seeking a DevOps Engineer to help modernize and standardize cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and operational excellence across a growing AWS environment. This is a hands-on engineering role where you''ll improve infrastructure as code, enhance CI/CD pipelines, strengthen security practices, and build a more observable and reliable production environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and DevOps best practices, along with a passion for automation, security, and operational efficiency. Experience with Datadog and cloud observability is highly valued, and familiarity with SQL Server administration is a significant plus.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Refactor and standardize Terraform modules to create reusable, scalable infrastructure across ECS services, AWS Lambda functions, and Step Functions.
- Lead the migration of CI/CD pipelines from TeamCity to GitHub Actions while improving deployment automation and reliability.
- Review source code repositories to identify secrets and sensitive configuration, migrating credentials and application secrets into 1Password.
- Establish consistent, secure configuration management practices across development and production environments.
- Design and implement centralized application logging, AWS log forwarding, and Datadog integrations to improve operational visibility.
- Build Datadog dashboards, alerts, monitors, and automated notifications that provide actionable insights into application health and infrastructure performance.
- Leverage Datadog''s AI-assisted troubleshooting capabilities to accelerate incident response and root cause analysis.
- Create and maintain deployment documentation, operational procedures, architecture documentation, and production runbooks.
- Partner with software engineers to improve deployment processes, infrastructure reliability, and production support.
- Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve platform scalability, security, and maintainability.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering experience.
- Strong experience administering AWS cloud infrastructure in production environments.
- Hands-on expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Knowledge of containerized workloads, including Amazon ECS.
- Experience supporting serverless technologies including AWS Lambda and Step Functions.
- Understanding of cloud security best practices, secrets management, and secure configuration management.
- Experience implementing centralized logging and monitoring solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, deployments, and production environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to create clear technical documentation.
- Must be comfortable working Eastern Time business hours.
Preferred Experience
- Experience migrating build and deployment pipelines from TeamCity to GitHub Actions.
- Strong Datadog experience including dashboards, monitors, alerting, log management, and APM.
- Experience with AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and log forwarding architectures.
- Familiarity with 1Password or other enterprise secrets management platforms.
- Experience supporting highly available production applications in AWS.
- SQL Server Management or SQL Server Administration experience.
- Experience scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Exposure to infrastructure security, compliance, and operational best practices.
