Resource 1 is in need of a Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer with hands-on experience building and securing cloud-native solutions in AWS environments, ideally with some experience working with IoT (Internet of Things) platforms or connected device ecosystems. This is a budgeted and approved remote contract role for our direct end-client with an immediate start date. Position will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable infrastructure and services in a high-demand, production environment. This individual should be a senior-level, hands-on engineer who can operate with minimal oversight, quickly understand existing architecture, and deliver impactful solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable AWS cloud infrastructure supporting IoT and distributed systems with millions of users
- Implement and manage secure, highly available architectures across AWS services
- Work with large-scale device or event-driven data pipelines (IoT or near-real-time systems)
- Configure and manage AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, VPC, Security Groups, NACLs, S3, EBS and Kubernetes (EKS)
- Deploy infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform strongly preferred)
- Support CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
- Partner with engineering and security teams to address vulnerabilities, implement monitoring/ logging solutions and ensure compliance with best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues
- Cloud security posture improvements using tools like GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong experience in cloud engineering, with deep AWS expertise
- Hands-on experience with:
o AWS core services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC)
o AWS security services (GuardDuty, Inspector, Security Hub, etc.)
o Terraform (or similar IaC tools)
o Kubernetes (EKS)
o CI/CD pipelines and automation
- Experience designing and supporting high-scale distributed systems
- Experience working in production environments with minimal ramp-up time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IoT platforms (device connection/communication., telemetry ingestion, MQTT, etc.)
- Support of large-scale environments (high request volume, millions of devices/ users)
o Familiarity with Rapid7 (or similar vulnerability management tool) and GitHub Actions (or modern CI/CD tooling)
- Experience in IoT, SaaS platforms, or high-availability consumer applications
