Job Title: Software Engineer 2 – .NET / Blazor Web Development

Location: Austin, Texas

Job Summary

Texas Department of Agriculture is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to perform advanced application and software development activities. The candidate will design, develop, enhance, and support web-based and client/server applications, working closely with business users, system analysts, and architects to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions aligned with TDA standards. All deliverables will be considered works made for hire and remain the property of TDA.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced computer programming and application development activities
• Design, develop, test, debug, and document complex web-based and client/server applications
• Develop and enhance front-end and back-end applications using C# (.NET), Blazor, HTML5, CSS, SQL, Stored Procedures
• Work with Oracle and SQL Server databases, including designing and maintaining stored procedures
• Utilize DevExpress tools, including advanced grid components, to build interactive and user-friendly UI
• Collaborate with systems analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to gather and validate requirements
• Diagnose application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes
• Support and maintain existing TDA applications, ensuring systems remain current and stable
• Conduct research and analysis to recommend and implement process and application improvements
• Participate in Agile SDLC activities including development, maintenance, and demonstrations
• Present application changes and enhancements to stakeholders for approval

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• 4+ years of experience developing web-based software applications
• 4+ years of experience in root cause analysis and issue resolution
• Strong proficiency in C#/.NET, Blazor, HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Stored Procedures
• Hands-on experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases
• 3+ years of experience working in Agile SDLC environments
• 3+ years of experience collaborating within cross-functional development teams
• Experience gathering requirements and supporting application development and maintenance
• 2+ years of experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools
• 1+ year of hands-on experience with C# .NET Blazor
• Experience delivering in-person or stakeholder-facing application demos

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience porting applications from Java to C# .NET Blazor
• Knowledge of responsive web design principles and implementation
• Experience implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Prior experience working with Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) systems
