Job Description:
Value Technology is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Progress OpenEdge Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business-critical applications using Progress OpenEdge ABL. You will work closely with business analysts, project managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet our business needs. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of OpenEdge development principles, database design, and software development methodologies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Progress OpenEdge ABL applications.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Develop and maintain database schemas, tables, and stored procedures.
- Optimize application performance and ensure scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with business analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Progress OpenEdge technologies and trends.
- Write and maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and coding standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Progress OpenEdge ABL development.
- Strong understanding of Progress OpenEdge database concepts.
- Experience with ProVision or other OpenEdge development tools.
- Experience with designing and developing web services using OpenEdge.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
- Experience with manufacturing or supply chain applications is a plus.
