Role: Mainframe Systems Programmer / DBA
Location: Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite Per Week
Engagement Type: Contract – 12 Months
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA to support and maintain enterprise legacy database environments. This role is responsible for database administration, system programming, database upgrades, performance optimization, capacity planning, backup and recovery, and production support for mission-critical mainframe systems.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IMS, DB2, ADABAS, CICS, and IBM z/OS environments and have experience supporting large-scale enterprise database infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and support database upgrades, installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
• Administer and support IMS, DB2, and ADABAS database environments.
• Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and overall system health.
• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures.
• Perform database reorganizations, replication, compression, and partitioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance to application development and operations teams.
• Conduct database performance tuning and optimization.
• Design and implement logical and physical database structures.
• Support production systems and troubleshoot complex database-related issues.
• Participate in database architecture reviews and system enhancement initiatives.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to existing database management systems and processes.

Required Experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer and/or Database Administrator.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a lead or senior technical role.
• Strong experience with enterprise database administration and system programming.
• Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, capacity planning, backup and recovery.
• Experience supporting large-scale production mainframe environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Education
• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Additional Information
• Hybrid work schedule with onsite presence required two days per week.
• This is a Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA position.
• Candidates with primary experience as Mainframe Application Developers will not be considered.
• Experience supporting enterprise legacy database environments is highly preferred.
