Job Description

We are seeking experienced Data Scientists to support a high-impact retail analytics engagement focused on shopper behavior, promotions, pricing, and assortment insights.

This role involves working with large-scale transaction, basket, and loyalty datasets to generate actionable insights that directly influence business decisions for sales, marketing, and customer development teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze shopper transaction, basket, and loyalty data to uncover actionable insights

  • Evaluate promotion performance, pricing strategies, and assortment effectiveness

  • Perform basket analysis, cross-purchase behavior, and shopper segmentation

  • Translate business questions into analytical approaches and insights

  • Build dashboards, visualizations, and executive-ready presentations

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Analytics stakeholders

  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support business strategy

Required Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in data analytics / data science

  • Strong hands-on expertise in:

    • SQL (must-have)

    • Python (data analysis focused)

  • Experience working with:

    • Transaction / Loyalty / POS data

    • Large-scale datasets in cloud environments

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Shopper analytics (basket analysis, penetration, frequency, cross-purchase)

  • Proven ability to translate data into business insights

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Excel, or similar)

  • Strong communication skills with ability to work with non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with retail / CPG industry data

  • Exposure to Kroger Collaborative Cloud (KCC) or similar retailer platforms

  • Familiarity with 84.51° / Stratum tools

  • Experience with Nielsen / Circana syndicated data

  • Background in Shopper Marketing or Sales Analytics

  • Experience in consulting or project-based environments.
