Senior C Software Engineer

We're seeking an experienced Senior C Software Engineer to support long-term postal automation control systems through software maintenance, configuration management, and new development. This role focuses on building and sustaining mission-critical systems in C and Python within real-time, UNIX-like environments.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to support deployments, testing, and ongoing enhancements of automation platforms. This position follows a hybrid schedule with an office location in Merrifield, VA, and includes occasional travel for installations, testing, and stakeholder meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  Maintain and enhance postal automation control software using C and Python

  Support configuration management and long-term software maintenance efforts

  Develop, debug, and deploy applications using Eclipse-based IDEs, GNU compilers, and debugging tools

  Manage source control using Git

  
  


• 
  

  Work within UNIX-like real-time operating systems environments

  Participate in software installations, system testing, and vendor coordination

  Contribute to additional development projects in C++ or C# (Windows) as needed

  
  

Required Qualifications

• 
  

  5+ years of professional C software development experience, plus Python

  
  


• 
  

  Hands-on experience with UNIX or UNIX-like real-time operating systems

  Proficiency with Eclipse-style IDEs, GNU toolchains, debugging tools, and Git

  
  


• 
  

  Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field

  Ability to obtain and maintain a postal-sensitive security clearance

  Willingness to travel as required for installations, testing, and meetings
