Roles/Responsibilities:
Deliverable 1: Design and development of Business Intelligence reports, dashboards and BI sematic layer.
Design and development of Business Intelligence reports and dashboards. The report and dashboard requests are received from the CalPERS business areas. Fulfillment includes requirement interpretation, working with the business requester to confirm requirements, design and development of the report or dashboards, testing and deployment of the report or dashboard to CalPERS business users.
Design and development of the BI semantic layer. The semantic layer is a complex component of each BI environment that translates:
- complex database table structures,
- relationships between database tables,
- data types (example: numbers, characters),
- grains (example: monthly, weekly, and daily data records),
- centralized business calculations (example: real time pension account balance calculation) and data records into business-oriented data fields with business-friendly labels that are used to create reports, dashboards and analyses without the need for users to learn computer. programming languages or the need to understand complex database tables.
Modernization of the BI data platform with integrated automation, along with providing the necessary data and technology support to enable CalPERS to achieve its BI-related business objectives. Data visualization of business metrics, patterns, trends, transactions in the form of charts, graphs, maps, tables and other forms to effectively tell data stories and provide information to business users in intuitive and clear formats.
Deliverable 2: Maintenance, Operations Support and Functional administration of Business Intelligence Reporting systems
Maintenance of the existing data reporting inventory and Provide data and technology support necessary to enable CalPERS to meet BI related business objectives. Ensure the continued upkeep and enhancement of the existing data reporting inventory, including regular updates, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to maintain seamless functionality and reliability. Update design and technical specification documents for on-going report modifications. Research, analyze, design, and implement appropriate reporting solutions for business; enhance and maintain myCalPERS and Business Intelligence (BI) Production Reporting systems. Functional administration of the BI dashboarding environments (accounts, roles, server maintenance coordination, promotion of code from one environment to another, etc.) in production and non-production servers.
Deliverable 3: Knowledge Transfer
On an ongoing basis, through the end of the contract, all work products and deliverables (project status reports, business process, triage incident reports with resolution, meeting minutes, test cases, test outcomes) details have to be discussed with the contract manager to ensure that all of the information is documented and placed in a file share. The contract manager will schedule knowledge transfer sessions at regular intervals to ensure that all of the work production details have been documented, and the knowledge has been transferred to state personnel. Knowledge transfer to State staff is part of each project when the projects are completed and released into maintenance mode.
Mandatory Skills:
- At least five (5) years of experience in developing reports, diagnosing and resolving issues with BI & Analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI
- At least four (4) years of experience performing tasks pertaining to Microsoft Power BI functional Administration including promotion of changes, access provision, and documentation of procedures and best practices
- At least three (3) years of experience in report meta modeling, including logically grouping business element functions in the form of conformed dimensions and hierarchies, measures, data security rules, and user-friendly attributes and data dictionary definitions
- At least three (3) years of experience in some or all areas of Pension and Health Insurance
