Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Research Scientist - Onsite for a 24+ month contract opportunity with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on scientist with strong mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and cell-based assay experience. The ideal candidate must be able to independently execute experiments, troubleshoot challenges, adapt quickly, and contribute scientifically to team discussions and experimental planning. This role provides unique scientific advice and direction in a highly specialized field of expertise and contributes to ongoing projects to meet functional objectives.
Responsibilities: - Design and execute experiments for AAV and lentiviral vector production, optimization, and characterization for in vitro and in vivo research applications
- Design, generate, and validate DNA constructs and perform mammalian cell culture, viral vector production, purification, and characterization
- Perform in vitro functional assays, process mouse tissue samples, and isolate and prepare RNA for downstream molecular analyses
- Conduct molecular, biochemical, and cell-based assays to characterize viral vectors and evaluate biological activity
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and propose follow-up experiments or workflow improvements
- Develop and implement new experimental methods and communicate findings to multidisciplinary project teams
- Maintain accurate experimental documentation and contribute to effective laboratory operations
Requirements: - Doctorate degree OR Master's degree and 2 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience
- Molecular Biology and Mammalian Cell Culture: Strong hands-on experience with sterile mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, DNA construct design, and validation
- Experimental Biology and Scientific Problem-Solving: Experience with in vitro assays, tissue sample processing, and RNA preparation, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot experiments, analyze data, and interpret results
Desired skills: - Viral Vector Technologies: Experience with AAV and/or lentiviral vector design, production, purification, and characterization is highly desirable
Pay range: up to $42.16 per hour
