Summary

Job Description

The primary role of this position is to identify, develop, and implement opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the sawmill. Responsibilities include the development of new standards and the refinement of existing standards, structures, systems, and equipment to ensure process efficiency and effectiveness. The incumbent is responsible for driving continuous improvement through the application of methodologies, lean improvement principles, and technical and engineering tools, working in close coordination with the Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager and Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives within the mill.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust operational standards, systems, and equipment.
  • Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all improvement efforts.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Support and oversee 5S initiatives, failure analysis, results management, and safety activities.
  • Coordinate and manage CAPEX projects, including data compilation and analysis.
  • Assist location management with annual action planning and administration of policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Coach and train employees on improvement methodologies and operational excellence tools.
  • Act as a change agent, motivating and influencing employees at all organizational levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of wood products manufacturing processes and heavy mill machinery.
  • Previous experience in wood product manufacturing is desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business systems and complex technical and engineering processes.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and develop employees.
  • Strong presentation, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, and capable of working effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Lean Yellow or Black Belt preferred
