Senior Enterprise Monitoring & Observability Engineer

Location: Trenton, NJ
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Onsite 3 Days per Week)

Travel Requirement: Up to 50% travel within the state. Personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursement provided).

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Enterprise Monitoring & Observability Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-wide monitoring and alerting solutions. This role requires deep expertise in observability platforms, infrastructure monitoring, and system integrations to enhance operational visibility across network, server, and application environments.

The ideal candidate will operate as an independent contributor while collaborating cross-functionally to deliver scalable, reliable, and performance-driven monitoring solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement enterprise monitoring and alerting frameworks using industry-leading tools.

• Design and manage integrations between monitoring platforms and IT Service Management (ITSM) systems for event and incident automation.

• Gather business and technical requirements to develop scalable monitoring strategies aligned with operational best practices.

• Develop and customize dashboards, performance reports, and data visualizations.

• Configure monitoring policies, thresholds, alerts, and automated workflows.

• Conduct infrastructure discovery, device onboarding, and topology mapping.

• Validate monitoring systems for reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.

• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network, and Security teams to ensure full observability coverage.

• Enhance root cause analysis (RCA) capabilities through event correlation and analytics.

• Automate repetitive monitoring tasks including alert generation, reporting, and health checks.

• Maintain documentation, operational runbooks, and process logs in alignment with IT governance standards.

• Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with defined SLAs.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex monitoring-related incidents.

• Support enterprise initiatives and technology enhancement projects.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Enterprise Monitoring and Observability platforms.

• Strong expertise in monitoring architecture, alert management, and performance optimization.

• Experience integrating monitoring systems with ITSM platforms for event and workflow automation.

• Solid understanding of SNMP (v2/v3), Syslog configuration, and trap management.

• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure, application, and network monitoring issues.

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise monitoring environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with advanced observability and event correlation platforms.

• Experience automating monitoring workflows and reporting processes.

• Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills.

• Working knowledge of ITIL principles and service management best practices.
