Senior Programmer Analyst / Mainframe Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Programmer Analyst / Mainframe Developer with expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies, COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and legacy modernization. The ideal candidate will support mission-critical insurance applications by designing, developing, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise systems while ensuring high availability and performance. Experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, Splunk, and cloud modernization is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, SQL, and Stored Procedures.
• Support mission-critical batch and online payment processing applications for insurance and financial systems.
• Perform production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for high-volume applications.
• Develop and enhance COBOL batch and online programs, JCL, PROCs, and DB2 database objects.
• Analyze and optimize DB2 SQL queries using Strobe and other performance analysis tools.
• Debug and resolve application issues using IBM Fault Analyzer, Xpediter, Abend-AID, and File-Aid.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs and Spring Boot microservices supporting legacy-to-cloud modernization initiatives.
• Modify and integrate REST endpoints with existing mainframe applications.
• Monitor application logs using Splunk to troubleshoot authentication, MFA, payment gateway, and production issues.
• Design and develop XML interfaces, Web Services (SOAP/REST), and API integrations between mainframe and distributed systems.
• Perform impact analysis and develop technical specifications for application enhancements.
• Participate in system integration testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, and post-production support.
• Create and maintain JCLs, PROCs, utilities, and batch scheduling processes.
• Utilize ServiceNow for Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support enterprise application modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
• Follow SDLC, Agile methodologies, coding standards, and documentation best practices.
