SMS is hiring a Systems Administrator to support our Air Force National Capital Region (AFNCR) IT Services program. This role ensures the stability, security, and peak performance of critical, classified on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure. The candidate will serve mission users across defense and intelligence teams within a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Windows servers within multi-domain environments.
  • System Hardening: Execute security controls, implement system configuration changes, and ensure compliance with strict DoD security protocols.
  • Vulnerability Management: Monitor and remediate Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) via regular patching and scanning.
  • Virtualization & Cloud: Configure and manage virtual environments using VMware, Citrix, or AWS.
  • Incident Resolution: Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for complex hardware, network connectivity, and application issues.
  • Identity Management: Maintain active directory infrastructure, manage user accounts, and govern file permissions.
  • Disaster Recovery: Oversee routine system backups, storage area network (SAN) configurations, and data recovery operations.
  • Team Collaboration: Author and update technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and system security plans.

Required Qualifications
  • Security Clearance: Must possess an active, transferable U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance.
  • DoD 8570 Compliance: Active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or CySA+) is mandatory prior to start.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (equivalent experience may be substituted).
  • Experience: Minimum of 35 years of enterprise system administration experience within a classified environment.
