Summary

CONTRACT to HIRE POSITION / Hybrid in New York City (Midtown)

The Business & Data Analyst will be responsible for interpreting data, analyzing results, and providing ongoing reports. This role requires the utilization of data collection systems, performing data analytics, and employing strategies that optimize efficiency and quality. The Business & Data Analyst will work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity. Additionally, this role includes supporting data interfaces, managing data-related queries, and addressing operational issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support business decisions.
  • Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders.
  • Data Quality: Ensure data integrity and consistency by implementing data quality checks and addressing data quality issues promptly.
  • Data Interface and Operations Support: Manage data interfaces, respond to third-party queries, address errors, and collaborate with business teams, IT and vendors to resolve operational issues, ensuring accurate and reliable data exchange.
  • Data Governance Stewardship: Act as a data steward within assigned domains, ensuring adherence to data governance standards and practices. Document metadata, maintaining the accuracy and consistency of data definitions and lineage.
  • Business Collaboration: Work closely with business units to understand their data needs and provide analytical support to drive business outcomes.
  • Technical Collaboration: Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data solutions effectively meet business needs while maintaining data integrity and system efficiency.
  • Project Support: Participate in data-related projects, documenting data requirements & specifications and providing analytical expertise.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to data processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Understanding of best practices relating to metadata management, data quality, and root cause analysis
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships while managing expectations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ of experience in data analysis, data governance or a related field
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Domo, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of Data Governance & Data Quality tools (e.g., Informatica AXON, Informatica Data Quality, Collibra)
  • Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, Python)
  • Experience in managing data interfaces and responding to data-related queries
  • Experience in documenting data requirements and collaborating with data architecture & engineering teams
  • Experience in benefits or insurance industry is preferred
  • Bachelor s Degree preferably in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, or other related fields. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
