A substantial multi-billion organisation, our client has a history spanning 100 years and operate at the pinnacle of this exciting and dynamic industry. A global speciality chemical organisation, they operate in a unique integrated business model and provide end users and manufacturers across 5 continents with a wide range of high-performance solutions. They are now seeking a VP/Director - Advanced Materials for Electronics.

Continued growth and investment remain firmly on the agenda and as such, they are now looking to drive their entry into high purity, high-performance chemical materials serving the advanced electronics supply chain and ecosystem that support the growth of Data Centres, Robotics, AI and other high-tech industries.

The requirement is to develop a new business unit and as such, this is an extremely time to be joining this organisation and hence we are looking for an outstanding individual with deep expertise in advanced materials to lead a growth agenda.

Responsibilities:

  • This pivotal newly created stand-alone position demands an individual with combined commercial and technical acumen and intellectual horsepower to create innovative chemical and material business solutions and bring sustainable competitive advantage. As such, you will establish a new business platform from ground zero.

  • Reporting to the Divisional President, you will define and lead the strategic roadmap for a new electronics materials business unit whilst identifying and prioritising high growth market segments.

  • This role requires deep commercial expertise, combined with technical and engineering capabilities and as such, there is the requirement to pull together product and market analysis in order to raise the bar and build a strategic value proposition for the advanced electronics marketplace.

  • You will pull together all elements defining the appropriate business plan and market strategy in order to develop market opportunities. This will involve a mix of business initiatives ranging from M&A activities together with building formidable relationships with external partners, start-ups and industry stakeholders.

  • You will develop the market for the advanced materials/electronics business unit creating the commercial and technical roadmap with a focus on market penetration and product development and all appropriate routes to market whilst creating alignment with key customers.

  • Home based (preferable locations would be Germany, US, Taiwan or Korea), you will be required to conduct appropriate travel and will execute the strategic plan as they look to further penetrate within the advanced electronics supply chain and eco-system.

  • To analyse market dynamics, the competitive landscape and emerging technologies to establish and scale this new growth plan.

Person:

  • Fluent in English and degree qualified ideally in a chemistry/materials/engineering or related field, you will have extensive and deep expertise within the advanced electronics materials, semi-conductors or adjacent high-tech materials industries.

  • As such, you will have deep expertise of the entire advanced electronics supply chain and ecosystem. It is most likely that you will be working in the early part of the supply chain within a best in class advanced chemical or semiconductor manufacturer, where you will have extensive expertise and knowledge that supports the growth of Data Centres, AI, Robotics and other high-tech markets.

  • You are likely to have an outstanding commercial background combined with technical and engineering expertise and as such, may well be operating currently within a Commercial/Business Development, Head of Business Unit, General Manager or Director of New Venture role.

  • You will have a proven track record of developing, leading and scaling business initiatives ideally from scratch, and demonstrable success in M&A execution would be a distinct advantage.

  • Intellectually powerful and action orientated, you will have a proven ability to operate in complex and ambiguous environments, giving clarity and alignment, and will relish the opportunity to make your mark and lead the business to maximise commercial opportunities.
