Sr. KONG & AI Gateway Developer
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 to 12+ Months Contract

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled KONG & AI Gateway Developer to support customer's API Management and AI Integration initiatives. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in KONG Gateway, KONG AI Gateway, API Security, AI/LLM integrations, and enterprise-scale API management solutions.

Required Experience

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in KONG API Gateway and KONG AI Gateway.
• Strong experience in designing, developing, and implementing API Management solutions.
• Hands-on experience with KONG Gateway Enterprise, KONG Konnect, and AI Gateway capabilities.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM platforms such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, Microservices, API Lifecycle Management, and API Governance.
• Experience with API Security standards including OAuth2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, and Rate Limiting.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, JavaScript, or Go.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage enterprise API solutions using KONG Gateway and AI Gateway.
• Implement AI Gateway policies for LLM routing, observability, security, governance, and token management.
• Configure and manage API authentication, authorization, traffic control, and monitoring.
• Develop integrations between enterprise applications and AI/LLM services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve API performance, security, and scalability issues.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, and application teams to deliver robust API solutions.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation for API deployments.
• Prepare technical documentation, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.

Desired Skills

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized deployments.
• Experience with Kong Plugins, Custom Plugin Development, and Kong Ingress Controller.
• Knowledge of DevOps tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Understanding of AI governance, prompt security, and LLM observability frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

Preferred Certifications

• Kong Gateway Certification
• Kong Advanced/API Management Certifications
• Cloud Certifications (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform)
• AI/Generative AI related certifications

Relevant Experience: Mandatory 7+ Years in KONG & AI Gateway

Domain: API Management, AI Gateway, Generative AI Integration, Enterprise Integration Solutions.
