Data Center Technician (Contract)
Location: Hermiston, OR (Onsite)
Pay: $22–$27/hour (based on experience)
Duration: 6-month W2 contract with potential extension or conversion

About the Role
We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join a high-performing infrastructure support team in a secure, large-scale data center environment. In this role, you will serve as a key technical resource, responsible for troubleshooting and resolving hardware-related issues while supporting mission-critical systems.
This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on hardware experience, foundational networking knowledge, and a strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and server infrastructure issues
- Perform hardware replacements, upgrades, and repairs
- Support basic system administration tasks and server diagnostics
- Document work and manage tasks through ticketing systems
- Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and improve processes
- Follow detailed instructions and adhere to strict security protocols
- Maintain professionalism and contribute to a positive team environment
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of experience with TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- 1+ year of experience with computer/server hardware components
- Basic Linux/Unix command line knowledge
- Experience performing hardware repairs and replacements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
- Ability to take feedback and adapt performance as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications
- Experience with ticketing systems and technical documentation
- Understanding of data center cooling systems and power distribution
- Basic network troubleshooting experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work in a secure data center environment with daily metal detector screening
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Climb ladders and work at heights when needed
- Work in environments with temperature fluctuations and potential airborne particles (dust, allergens)
- Ability to adapt to varying environmental conditions
Schedule
- Training (first 2 weeks): Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Regular shifts:
- Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday
- 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Flexibility required, including potential night shifts
- Must be available to work scheduled holidays (regular pay applies)
