Job Title: Senior Power BI Developer Financial Reporting

Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for a Senior Power BI Developer (Financial Reporting). This is a 6-month contract role in a remote location. The reason this position exists is to build accurate, executive-ready Power BI reporting for the finance leadership of a nationally recognized philanthropic foundation, giving leaders clear visibility into budgets, grant payments, and financial performance.
What You Bring to the Role. (Ideal Experience)

• 5+ years building reports and dashboards in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Strong DAX and Power Query (M) skills, with solid data modeling experience (star schema, relationships, time intelligence measures).
• Experience building financial reports such as budget vs. actuals, general ledger analysis, forecasts, and variance reporting.
• Hands-on experience reporting from Workday Financials or a comparable ERP.
• Working SQL skills for querying, validating, and reconciling data.
• Experience delivering reports to CFOs, finance leaders, or boards, with a high bar for accuracy and presentation.
• Discretion handling confidential financial data.
• Nonprofit, foundation, or grant accounting experience is a strong plus.
• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) is preferred.

What You'll Do. (Skills Used in this Position)

• Partner with the CFO and finance team to define reporting needs and priorities.
• Build and enhance Power BI reports covering budgets, actuals, forecasts, grant payments, and variance analysis.
• Connect and model data from Workday, the grants management system, and other finance sources.
• Reconcile report outputs to source systems and the general ledger to confirm accuracy.
• Publish and manage reports in Power BI Service, including scheduled refreshes, row-level security, and access permissions.
• Produce clean, executive-level views suitable for leadership and board materials.
• Document report logic, data sources, definitions, and refresh schedules.
• Train finance users and deliver a complete knowledge transfer before the contract ends.

Compensation Information
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected hourly rate for this position is $55 - $65 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits such as health insurance and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
