Isoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support and enhance critical internal business applications that power real-time operational and market-related processes within a leading energy and market operations environment.
This role is heavily focused on backend engineering, with approximately 75% of responsibilities centered on backend application development and 25% focused on frontend development. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys owning complex systems, solving technical challenges, and collaborating across technical and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
This position offers an opportunity to work on business-critical systems while helping maintain application stability and support modernization initiatives across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications supporting real-time operational and business-critical processes.
Build and support Java-based backend services and applications.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs that enable reliable and high-performing application functionality.
Create and enhance user-facing features using Angular and modern web development practices.
Design, optimize, and maintain Oracle and SQL database solutions, including query tuning and performance optimization.
Deploy and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
Participate in GitHub-based development workflows and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and implement sustainable long-term solutions.
Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement enhancements.
Provide support and stability for key business applications while internal team members focus on strategic initiatives and platform modernization efforts.
Contribute to architecture discussions, technical decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of software development experience in enterprise environments.
Strong hands-on experience with Java application development.
Experience working with Oracle and SQL databases.
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
Experience with Angular or similar modern front-end frameworks.
Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes in containerized environments.
Familiarity with GitHub-based source control and CI/CD practices.
Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting real-time operational, transactional, or high-availability systems.
Exposure to cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices.
Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar generative AI platforms.
Experience driving process improvements and promoting engineering best practices.
Demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities.
