Position: Cloud Engineer – Expert
Location: Triangle Region, NC | Hybrid/Onsite as needed
Type: Contract (W2 Contract)

NCDIT-Transportation is seeking a Cloud Engineer – Expert to support the DMV NCMAX Cloud Infrastructure build. The candidate will help establish the Azure cloud environment from scratch and serve as a technical bridge between NCDIT-T and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, and security.
Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using DevOps methodologies.
Design scalable, reliable, secure cloud network solutions.
Support deployment of networks, VMs, load balancers, connectivity, and other cloud infrastructure.
Provide technical guidance to vendors and project teams.

Required:

7+ years DevOps principles, practices, and tools.
7+ years cloud infrastructure experience.
7+ years cloud infrastructure best practices, including security, scalability, and performance optimization.
Strong cloud networking, security, and IaC experience.
Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform; Azure strongly preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Important:

Must be local to the NC Triangle region.
First-day onsite required for equipment pickup; initial onsite onboarding may be required.
Statewide travel required; contractor must use their own vehicle.
Onsite attendance may be required based on business needs.
