Job Description

Electrical Project Engineer III

Position Summary

The Electrical Project Engineer III supports the design, development, documentation, and implementation of electrical systems for automated material handling, baggage handling, and industrial automation projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and project leadership, the EPE II assists in the creation of electrical engineering deliverables while developing technical competency in electrical design, power distribution, networking, safety systems, and project execution. The EPE II contributes to project success through accurate deliverables, proactive learning, collaboration, and adherence to engineering standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Electrical Design Support
  • Assist in the development of electrical system architectures.
  • Support power distribution and electrical equipment designs.
  • Create and update electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Generate power calculations and electrical load information.
  • Assist in developing electrical layouts and safety-related drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.

Documentation and Deliverables
  • Produce electrical drawings using company standards and templates.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation packages.
  • Generate and maintain I/O lists.
  • Assist with cabinet specifications and material specifications.
  • Support preparation of field wiring specifications and installation documentation.
  • Update as-built drawings and project records.

Equipment and Materials
  • Assist with selection of electrical components and devices.
  • Support creation of cabinet designs and electrical bills of material.
  • Participate in technical reviews of supplier information and electrical submittals.
  • Support development of project-specific electrical solutions.

Project Support
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks in accordance with project schedules.
  • Support project teams by providing accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Participate in engineering coordination meetings and project update sessions.
  • Collaborate with Controls Project Engineers (CPEs), Mechanical Project Engineers (MPEs), Layout Engineers (LEs), and Project Leaders.

Learning and Development
  • Complete assigned onboarding and technical training programs.
  • Develop proficiency in Vanderlande engineering tools and ways of working.
  • Gain knowledge of electrical design, network design, safety systems, and site support activities.
  • Learn project execution processes from design through commissioning.

Qualifications

Education

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred:
  • Co-op, internship, or project experience in industrial automation, controls, manufacturing, material handling, or power systems.

Experience
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience.
  • entry level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Internship, co-op, or university project experience may be considered in lieu of professional experience.

Technical Skills

Working knowledge of:
  • Electrical fundamentals
  • Industrial control systems
  • Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Microsoft Office applications

Ability to learn:

  • Navisworks
  • Smartsheet
