Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SQL DBA Administrator to support the in-place downgrade of SQL Server lower environments from Enterprise Edition to Developer Edition. The environment includes Always On Availability Groups (AG) and SQL Server Replication, requiring strong hands-on DBA expertise to ensure a smooth and risk-free transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-place downgrade of SQL Server from Enterprise Edition to Developer Edition in lower environments

• Analyze and validate SQL Server features to ensure compatibility with Developer Edition

• Manage and support Always On Availability Groups (AG) during downgrade activities

• Handle SQL Server Replication (Transactional / Snapshot) before, during, and after downgrade

• Develop and execute detailed downgrade plans, rollback strategies, and validation checklists

• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and QA teams to minimize downtime and risk

• Perform pre- and post-downgrade health checks and performance validation

• Ensure database integrity, data consistency, and high availability throughout the process

• Document procedures, changes, and outcomes clearly for audit and operational handover

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA

• Strong expertise in SQL Server Enterprise & Developer Editions

• Proven experience with in-place SQL Server downgrades

• Deep knowledge of Always On Availability Groups (AG)

• Strong experience managing SQL Server Replication

• Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

• Experience working in remote environments with cross-functional teams

• Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting healthcare or regulated environments

• Knowledge of SQL Server licensing and edition compliance

• PowerShell or automation scripting for DBA tasks
