AI Native Engineer who combines strong hands-on engineering execution with a functional mindset for business processes and curiosity to understand how AI is transforming software life cycle. You will identify high-value process opportunities, design workflows, and rapidly build PoCs/MVPs-then partner with our Engineering, AI, UX, teams to scale what works.
Although this is a builder role, you will ship working solutions, not just coordinate delivery. To clarify, you will not write code, but clear specifications that will be executed by AI Agents embedding Ferrovial's standards and best practices combined with human engineering teams. Functional and process knowledge will be critical for this position. Success will be measured by
adoption and measurable business impact across Ferrovial's US operations and products.
We value genuine interest in the subject domains of your projects. Familiarity with Ferrovial's Business Units (Construction, Toll Roads, Energy, Digital Infrastructures, Airports and Corporate Head Quarters functions) will be valued.
This role will report to the Head of Digital Delivery, and it is crucial for maximizing product value delivered to the business within defined timelines, budget, and quality.
Responsibilities:Discovery & process transformation- Together with Ferrovial's US business stakeholders and business partners, understand workflows, pain points, constraints, and value levers; identify where AI, automation and technology can materially improve cycle time, cost, risk, quality, and user experience.
- Map current-state processes (lightweight), define target outcomes, and propose "to-be" designs.
- Translate business problems into clear problem statements, hypotheses, measurable success criteria, and MVP scopes.
Hands-on delivery- Build PoCs/MVPs with high autonomy using AI Agents, AI Native Engineering methods and tools to create fast iterations that confirm the problem and solution alignment with business stakeholders.
- Leverage internal platforms, methodology and tools while partnering with the Madrid-based CoEs (Engineering/AI/UX) to harden prototypes into scalable solutions.
AI-enabled software delivery- Apply AI to improve the SDLC (requirements, test generation, code review support, documentation, release notes, incident analysis) and enable mixed roles (functional + technical) in delivery,
- Use pragmatic governance for prototypes (data handling, security basics, evaluation, observability) to make AI solutions safe to scale according to Ferrovial's standards and best practices.
Stakeholder management & adoption- Together with business partner, communicate progress, tradeoffs, and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support rollout readiness: user training inputs, adoption measurement, feedback loops, iteration planning.
- Track adoption and business impact KPIs; help drive continuous improvement post-launch.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Data Science, or related STEM discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience delivering digital solutions end-to-end (discovery MVP iteration), including integration with enterprise systems and data Flow.
- Clear curiosity on AI, AI Native Engineering and previous exposure to AI technologies (LLMs and/or ML capabilities, Agentic IDEs, etc).
- Ability to understand business processes and translate them into implementable solutions with clear metrics.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
- International collaboration experience; ability to work with remote teams in Spain while focusing on US Operations.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in infrastructure/construction/highways/airports/energy domains or adjacent industrial operations.
- Experience implementing technological products in similar industries.
- Knowledge of UX good practices.
- Familiarity with cloud-native development and modern delivery practices applying AI.
- Experience with workflow automation and orchestration (including agentic workflow patterns).
- Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish will be highly valued.
- Deliver multiple PoCs/MVPs adopted by US teams with measurable impact and a clear path to scale.
- Establish repeatable patterns for AI-enabled process transformation and AI-accelerated delivery.
- Build strong operating cadence with Madrid-based CoEs and US stakeholders, improving time-to-value for Digital Hub initiatives.
What Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months)- Deliver multiple PoCs/MVPs adopted by US teams with measurable impact and a clear path to scale.
- Establish repeatable patterns for AI-enabled process transformation and AI-accelerated delivery.
- Build strong confidence and operating cadence with Madrid-based CoEs and US stakeholders and business partners, improving time-to-value for Digital Hub initiatives.
