Title: sound test engineer

Location:Mossville, IL- 100% onsite

Type: Contract

Pay: range $31-32.77/hour on w2

Length: 24 months- possibility to extend

Screenings: no tech, full panel drug and background once hired

+optional benefits, long term contract with ability to extend

? Must haves:

• Years of experience: 5-7
• Degree requirement:A BS degree in an Engineering curriculum that included dynamics labs in NVH - Noise, Vibration, Harshness (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.)
• Initiative
• Good communication skills
• Interpreting frequency data
• Good understanding of mechanical and audio systems
• Knowledge with instrumentation like microphones, accelerometers and how to apply them
• Experience processing/interpreting high frequency data

(Desired)

• Experience with troubleshooting and fixing mechanical systems
• Experience with audio concepts like intelligibility metrics, etc.

Soft Skills

(Required)

• High initiative, good communication, strong teamwork
• Ability to perform physical work (climb machines, turn wrenches, etc.)

(Desired)

• Work or hobby experience with hand tools and carpentry, car audio installation, etc. will be a differentiator

Disqualifiers/Red Flags/Overqualifications :

• Simulation experience is not a disqualifier (actually it is a nice to have), however, only simulation experience without physical hands on work experience will not be considered for the position

The main function of a quality engineer is to research and test the design, functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, systems and processes and develop quality standards. A typical quality engineer has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and evaluate product integrity and standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.

Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.

May write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.

May specialize in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, and administrative application.

Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.

Skills:

Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.

Team player and detail oriented.

Basic leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.

Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).

Typical task breakdown:

• This is a very hands-on job and requires a lot of periods of collaboration then self-direction.
• A typical day will include getting updates on development plans with the sound engineers, altering and building structures to install concepts, setting up instruments such as microphones and troubleshooting as required, running tests with or without machine operators.
• During planning and documentation stages, the day will include meetings with Design teams, most of which are teleconferences.

Interaction with team :

• The position works closely with a small team of sound engineers and a variety of electronics and product engineers to review designs, develop test plans, prepare instrumentation, execute tests, analyze results, and communicate results/recommendations back to Product Design teams.
• This position is an entry level position in the group so will have a portion of their job that is to support the experienced Sound Engineers by overseeing test set up and execution. The position will also be responsible to taking ownership of planning and delivering projects as capability is demonstrated.
