Job DetailsAs a member of the infrastructure team, the Network Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and operational support of all aspects of the LAN/WAN infrastructure consisting of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, load balancers, monitoring systems, and structured cabling.
Responsibilities
- \tMonitors and analyzes the availability and performance of the network, ensuring that it is maintained to the highest standards
- \tRecommends and implements solutions for network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless, and other network systems and services
- \tResponsible for the resolution of complex network problems; performs as an escalation resource for more junior engineers and other teams; escalates to more senior engineers and/or vendors as needed for prompt problem resolution
- \tParticipates in incident management, asset management, change management, project management, and root cause analysis documentation and remediation
- \tDocuments the technical details of the network environment and related systems and services
- \tInteracts and coordinates with clients and vendors to foster a satisfying customer service relationship
- \tParticipates in on call rotation for after-hours and weekend support
- \tTeam player; trains and mentors new team members
Required Experience
- \t5+ years hands-on experience in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of multi-protocol networks
- \tActive certifications such as CCNA and CCNP preferred
- \tLarge enterprise experience with a significantly complex multisite infrastructure, hospital experience a plus
- \tFirsthand experience in configuration and administration of routing and security protocols (BGP, OSPF, IPSec, SSL, etc.)
- \tExperience with design, implementation and support of the following:
- \tCisco and Juniper switches and routers
- \tCisco, Palo Alto, and Juniper firewalls
- \tCisco wireless controllers and access points; Cisco Prime
- \tLoad balancers, Netscaler a plus
- \tForeScout CounterACT a plus
