Summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking aSenior Systems Engineerto provide critical systems engineering and acquisition support to a high-profile Air Force program. Located at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Air Force Base, this position focuses on supporting enterprise IT systems, command and control systems, and computer processing-related technologies and programs.

As a Senior Systems Engineer with MTSI, you will play a vital role in supporting engineering, acquisition, and technical program activities for the United States Air Force (USAF). Your responsibilities will include developing program objectives, roadmaps, and budgets, as well as preparing documentation that supports technical and programmatic directives.

Responsibilities
  • Program Support and Engineering:
  • Provide engineering support for program management execution involving USAF programs.
  • Assist program teams in developing objectives, integrated roadmaps, schedules, and budgets.
  • Facilitate technical reviews, design integration, and test execution processes.
  • Document Development:
  • Prepare technical documentation, including statements of work, specifications, leadership briefs, and engineering reports.
  • Analyze manufacturers' proposals within applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Integration and Acquisition Support:
  • Apply expertise to technical R&D activities, providing actionable insights for acquisition planning and program implementation.
  • Support program cost, schedule, and performance management across development and production phases.
  • Compliance and Program Oversight:
  • Assist in complying with Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), CONOPS, architectural views, and security certification processes.
  • Provide support for acquisition strategies and program transition activities.
  • Roadmap Development and Stakeholder Management:
  • Communicate technology roadmaps and product-line integration plans.
  • Establish trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Systems Operations:
  • Work on multiple networks across various classification levels while adhering to security policies, procedures, and processes.

Required Experience
  • 10-15+ years of relevant engineering experience with the following expertise:
  • 10+ years in an engineering role for a systems program office or similar organization.
  • Experience working on classified and/or special access programs.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, define problems, and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Skilled at coordinating with internal and external organizations to accomplish common goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams).
  • Proficient with engineering tools such as Cameo and DOORS.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Confluence and/or Jira.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to translate technical needs and project objectives clearly.
  • Knowledge of military platforms, systems, and operational frameworks.

Desired Experience
  • Experience with enterprise IT systems, including datalinks, communications, networking, and command and control systems.
  • An advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, or physics, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition regulations/policy, including the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Familiarity with Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) frameworks, directives, and policies.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, or physics.

Required Clearance
  • Active TS/SCI and Special Access Programs (SAPs).
  • Candidates must have 12 months of SAP experience within the last 3 years.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to contract requirements.

Required Travel
  • Travel up to 25% may be required to government and industry locations as dictated by program needs.
