Network Security Engineer to act as a
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for
Web Proxy and Firewall technologies in a large-scale enterprise environment. This role will play a critical part in supporting a major
network separation/divestiture initiative, ensuring secure, seamless, and compliant transition of services.
The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in enterprise firewall platforms and web proxy solutions, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
Required / Mandatory Skills:- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise-grade Firewall platforms such as:
- Palo Alto Networks
- Check Point
- Cisco ASA / Firepower (FTD)
- Practical experience with Web Proxy solutions, including:
- Zscaler
- Forcepoint / Websense
- Blue Coat / Symantec ProxySG
- Solid understanding of network protocols and security concepts:
- TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS
- VPNs, NAT, IDS/IPS, Load Balancing
- Proven ability to:
- Analyze network traffic and logs
- Troubleshoot complex connectivity and security issues
- Optimize firewall and proxy performance
- Experience with firewall rule design, web proxy policy creation, and maintenance
- Exposure to network segmentation, ACL migrations, and access control strategies
- Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently as an SME and collaboratively within large technical teams
Qualification:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in Network Security Engineering
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience managing Web Proxy and Firewall solutions in an enterprise setup
- Proven experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Preferred Certifications (nice to have):
- CCNA Security
- PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks)
- CCSA / CCSE (Check Point)
- Zscaler certifications (ZCCA, ZCSE)
